The two documents you need, and which Sri Lankan ones work
You need your passport’s photo page and one proof of address from the last 2 months: a utility bill, an internet or mobile bill, or a bank statement in your name. Upload them as JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF, up to 10 MB.
1. Your passport
- The photo page (bio data page) of a valid, unexpired passport
- A clear, colour photo or scan, with all four corners visible
- The name must match the name in your application
2. Proof of address
- In your own name, at the address where you run your business
- Dated within the last 2 months
- Utility bills must be the original PDF from the provider, not a photo or scan of a paper bill

These are the kinds of documents the application accepts. Each one still needs to be in your name and dated within the last 2 months.

What gets sent back
These are the common reasons we have to ask for a new upload, which delays your filing.
- A bill in a parent's or landlord's name
- A bill older than 2 months
- A phone photo of a printed utility bill (send the PDF from the provider instead)
- Your NIC instead of a passport
- A passport photo with a corner cut off, glare over the text or an expired date
Document questions
Can I use my NIC instead of a passport?
No. Entryly’s identity check needs a valid passport, and Mercury and Stripe ask for one too when they verify you. If yours has expired, renew it before you apply.
My bills are in my parents' name. What can I use?
A bank statement in your own name usually solves this. Download the latest monthly statement as a PDF from your bank’s online banking or ask your branch for one. A mobile postpaid bill in your name also works.
Does the address need to match my passport?
No. Your passport doesn’t need to show an address. The proof of address shows where you live and run your business now.
Is my data safe?
Documents are uploaded to Entryly over an encrypted connection and used only for your formation and the identity checks the law requires. See the privacy policy for how long they’re kept.
